Nerja on the eastern edge of the  Costa del

Sol, formerly a fishing village, is now a family based seaside resort. Made up of sandy coves sheltered by the impressive Sierra de Almijara mountains and often referred to as 'The Jewel of the Costa del Sol'. Located just 53 kilometres east of Málaga Airport, it can be reached in about 45 minutes by car or about an hour and a half by bus. A temperate climate, famed as "the best in Europe" means that Nerja is a great place to visit at any time of year. The Balcon de Europa which is at the heart of the older part of town leads off to a maze of streets retaining their charm but sevicing the needs of the modern tourist with restaurants serving food from all parts of the World as well as the traditional Spànish cuisine. There are many tapas bars and small boutique shops that stay open late into the evening.
